The guide to solo Scout sites [Obsolete]

The guide to solo Scout sites [Obsolete]

This post is from 2011 and after changes in EVE: Hyperion is out of date

Almost every EVE player already knows, that trying to solo an Incursion site is a bad idea. But fear not, if you only need a few more hundred LP to get that famous Meta Capital repairer for your supercarrier, you can do a few small sites solo.

CCP has designed some easy sites with low pay for beginners and people who only need a little bit more LP: the Scout sites. Beacons for these missions spawn in Staging system and can be accessed just like the other Incursion sites. Main difference is the amount of NPCs, which is lowest; usually only three frigates at a time will be trying to kill your ship.

In addition to the three beacon sites, every asteroid belt in systems overrun by the Sansha there is a three frigate spawn (or two frigates + one cruiser) and counts as a Scout site called “Nation Industrial Proxy”.

Scout sites are quite easy, but Sanshas are still not to be underestimated. To be on the safe side, you can choose a battlecruiser with some passive omni tank and weapons suited to kill frigates. Below you can see a sample Drake fitting, which I have tested to solo the Scout sites. I neither had the time nor desire to make it all tech 2, so it contains both tech 1 / meta mods – believe me, thats just enough to do Scouts.

Just a few words to droners. Incursion NPCs will happily chase and then blow your drones up given the opportunity; keep that in mind when taking a drone boat into incursions.

Payout

Scout sites pay very low in term of ISK: to acquire 1 million ISK, you need to run 20 sites! LP is also very limited, because one site grants only 50 LP. It gets slightly better when running scout sites with an alt, because both characters receive the rewards.

Further optimization could look like this (mind that because of high signature radius it can be in trouble if Tama’s take it into crosshairs)

I strongly encourage armor over shields for any site above Scout level.

I have also tested a Vagabond with LSE and 220mm vulcan autocannons and Cynabal with 425mm AC’s. Both ships work quite well, because they are fast and agile, not to mention good tracking of medium autocannons.
