How to disable automatic restart after Windows Update

If you don’t like the “Reboot is required to finish updates” message every ten minutes asking you to restart the system, this is what to do in order to disable it:

  1. Click Start -> Run, enter “gpedit.msc” and press Enter
  2. Open Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update
  3. Double click on “No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Update installation”
  4. Click to enable the policy
  5. Restart Windows
