AchiEVEment unlocked: 100.000 visits. Win a rare Intaki Catalyst or a Navy Domi!

I have noticed yesterday, that I have just broken the 100.000 visits* count, since July 2011.

* The number is a bit inaccurate though, because I’ve started this blog on March 5th, 2010. I did not care about Analytics much for more than a year, because I thought the amount of traffic I was getting was low anyway. A simple linear approximation gives the number of 21.640 visits before turning the Analytics on. Traffic profile for a start-up website is rarely linear, so this estimation is most likely higher than the actual number would be.

Celebration is in order!

I guess this achievement needs another ship raffle 🙂 You have most likely already noticed the new Catalyst variants. Some of them sell in Jita for 165M, some sell for up to 500M ISK.

You can win two ships in this contest, one of which is a limited edition Intaki Syndicate Catalyst:

Intaki Syndicate Catalyst

The ship is currently quite rare and is worth around 300M ISK.

The other one is a ship well known for its resilience and exceptional drone DPS: Dominix Navy Issue

Dominix Navy Issue

How to win these shiny ships?

1. Write a comment under this post about what keeps you attached to EVE Online.

2. The comment must be at least 10 (ten) words long.

3. Use your character name or Twitter login so I know who to contract the ship to.

A plaintext file with nicknames will be created in the order the comments have arrived, i.e. first valid comment is ticket number one, second valid comment is ticket number two, and so on. Then the Chribba dice will be used to pick the winner.

The first draw has taken place on 21st of November. I have randomly chosen the winner from all valid comments posted under this post saved before 00:00 21.11.2012 EVE Time. The winner of this draw has received the Intaki Syndicate Catalyst. [tickets | dice]

The second draw has been held on 23rd of November. I have again randomly chosen the winner from all valid comments posted under this post saved before 00:00 23.11.2012 EVE Time. This time the winner has received a Navy Domi. [tickets | dice]

What keeps me attached to EVE: Single server for everyone with a real(mostly player controled) economy, also that this is an open world game. Oh and Live Events 🙂

If anything, the community keeps me attached. I started off with some RL friends in Eve, and made many new friends that I couldnt imagine life without. The people of Eve keep me coming back.

Ability to take any path through game you choose, then again ability to change that path and be something different, do something entirely new, massive content and the way the players can roll it and turn it in to their advangate and finally, CCP keeping the game clean from pay2win model not letting ppl but anything else than subscription and some graphical upgrades with their real money.

    Cheers, fly dangerously! ViggenZ

I’ve quit twice and come back after as long as 9 months away. I’m hooked by the community, my corpies, the story, the unapologetic PVP nature and the economics of the game.

The hardcoreness, the open endedness and the people. The community is unlike any other. Until someday when a asteroid crashes into earth a destroys the server and all backups… I will play eve

My corp is definitely what keeps me attached to the game. I’ve been lucky enough to be CEO of a fantastic organization through which i’ve met some of the most memorable people in my life.

Complexity and diversity of this game makes it unique. Adding single server and we have a game to play for a long time.

The awesome, awesome community, both in the blogs and on twitter, is what keeps me coming back. Otherwise its just me wandering around alone taking pictures.

I like the idea of doing many different things all in one session and planning on future moves or events when I am not in-game. Its absorbing.

This is Ashterothi. Honestly, If I hadn’t of ran into the Aideron folks, I probably wouldn’t still be playing. Being tied to something bigger then me, and helping create a vision for others has been hugely rewarding. I spent a long time as a raid leader in WOW, but doing it in EVE just feels more *REAL*. Plus, if I leave, who will possibly keep Marcel in check?

The reason why I play, I enjoy the spirit of the corp Im in even tough waves can get high at times, its all part of being a corp, still I would rather have that then miss out on it.. I will never regret contacting MD about Aura back when I did. On top of that my gf have told me she would rather have me play Eve than WoW, since Im must more relaxed. 😀 (The last part says it all imo)

I Have left a few times, but keep coming back for the depth of the game. There are so many options for how you can play. Be yourself, or be the antithesis of who you are in real life!

What keeps me in EVE? The ability to train character while you are away. This is easily exploited by providing a ridiculous 24 days long training times but it’s still better then killing 1000 bunnies or wolves or sewing 100 bandanas to level up. So this feel that you paid for the game and it works for you even while you sleep is kinda nice.

Another reason, of course, it the ability to stay hydrated. All we know that every human body, including buried deep inside core named “ego”, requires plenty of fluids to sustain life and proper functioning. Well, sweet tears of died in a fire morons or unlucky fighter fulfill that prerequisite perfectly: your body stays watery and juicy and your ego swims in love self admiration.

What makes me stay with eve, is the ammount of out of game content. Twitter, blogs and everything in between. You can always get your fix or stay updated when not able to log in.

I’ve come to realize that it isn’t really the game that keeps me attached to EVE. It’s the community. And not only is it the community within the game that keeps me around, but also the one that’s outside. As one of the co-hosts of a RL meet up group, it made me see the people who share the same hobby as I do. Whether you are a humanitarian or a tyrant in game, we all share the same universe (both the real one and the virtual one).

The main thing that keeps me attached to EvE is mainly the localized community of my corp and alliance mates,I love logging into mumble and just chatting to people while scanning for sites and wormholes. Then the larger community of the game on twitter and the forums and such. There’s also the ‘new ship feel’ every time you get into a new ship, that just gives you a little jolt of excitement and squee moment,

The first moment I saw Eve on my son’s computer screen I was hooked. It was a way for us to connect after the divorce. But what keeps me connected is the vibrant and creative community, the rush of player vs player combat and flying spaceships.

Funny you should ask that, as I’ve been asking myself the same thing recently: I don’t see to be able to wrap my head around PvP (and to a certain degree, the be-part-of-something-bigger thing), so I’m a bit at an impasse.

At the same time, it is this challenge, which keeps me coming back. And the people which I managed to meet despite my mostly-covert lifestyle.

The people and talent in this community, and the best way to enjoy when not able to log in, like I’d been able to keep tabs on the tournament and friends. Great contests and Europe. (since I’m late cheap plugs that I would have used ) Best invitation to the Best Corp (see, here is more gratuitous comments)
