EVE Online: An Introduction to the Captain's Quarters

That’s it, no more talking, no more promising, no more whetting appetite: Walking in stations will come to EVE Online in less than a month! On 21st of June CCP is planning to deploy EVE: Incarna, which offers the first room for your character to explore: the Captain’s Quarters (I have written about the last work-in-progress preview here).

By the end of 2011 the devs will roll out more content, more rooms and more functionality. Yes, it will be possible to run your own bar in EVE!

Personally I feel that EVE is a game set in space, and walking-in-stations is not the most important thing in it, but on the other hand I was waiting for this for the past 6 years (watching EVE evolve is one of the main reasons, which kept me hooked to EVE for so long). For example, ST:O is rather dull compared to EVE Online, but offers the ability to get out of the ship and do some stuff in person.

EVE Online: Forever

EVE Online: Forever

With the Fanfest 2011 behind us, we (the EVE community that is) have learned a few new things about the future of our favourite MMO (or MMOs, because EVE is going to be closely tied to DUST 514).

First off – there will be walking in stations. Not just Captain Quarters (coming in EVE: Incarna this summer, which I have described in this post). A whole lot of new features is coming, involving your persona rather than your spaceship: ability to freely move around stations and to interact with other players. You will also see the space outside the station. Don’t believe me? You don’t have to (seeing is believing so click the picture for YouTube movie):

The guide to solo Scout sites [Obsolete]

The guide to solo Scout sites [Obsolete]

This post is from 2011 and after changes in EVE: Hyperion is out of date

Almost every EVE player already knows, that trying to solo an Incursion site is a bad idea. But fear not, if you only need a few more hundred LP to get that famous Meta Capital repairer for your supercarrier, you can do a few small sites solo.

CCP has designed some easy sites with low pay for beginners and people who only need a little bit more LP: the Scout sites. Beacons for these missions spawn in Staging system and can be accessed just like the other Incursion sites. Main difference is the amount of NPCs, which is lowest; usually only three frigates at a time will be trying to kill your ship. Read more

Incursion ‘Intelligent’ Sansha NPCs

Incursion ‘Intelligent’ Sansha NPCs

I have ran through the Static Data Dump available here, which was released by the CCP shortly after the deployment of Incursion 1.1.0. I have found several new NPCs, which will be part of the upcoming Incursions.

A complete list of new NPCs, their effects and some other items related to Incursion 1.1.0 are available here New Intelligent Sansha NPCs in Incursion (links work in-game).

Incursion 1.1 to hit Tranquility on January 18th

Third installment of the latest EVE Online expansion, the Incursion is set to be deployed on January 18th 2011. CCP has decided to split the expansion into three parts to increase the overall quality of the expansion. So far, so good: the amount of issues related to patch deployment was less than what would a veteran player expect. There were two database issues which resulted in emergency reboot, but CCP claims they weren’t related to Incursion itself.
The list of changes coming into New Eden is not as short as one might expect. New content includes:

  • overhauled Trinity engine with volumetric shadows,
  • new graphic effects for ship explosions,
  • new Neocom GUI with Windows-like menu interface,
  • Incarna Character Creator including CARBON technology,
  • PI Improvements: Extractors replaced with Extraction Controllers = less clicking in PI
  • Updated Contract system – new GUI, better search, sorting done server side
  • PLEX tab in Character Window
  • Sansha Incursions & Incursion early warning system,
  • CONCORD LP store

Below you can watch a couple of screenshots with the new content. Enjoy!
